SciFi Short Story Competition

Overview
Open to all ages 16 yrs and over to write a short story of no more than 5000 words, based on a Science Fiction theme and content. Only short stories, not screenplays, will be accepted.

Total of Cash Prizes is AUD$500 (Australian Dollars) and the winning entry will be published on the SciFi Film Festival website.

Competition Openning date – 1 February 2015
Competition Closing Date – Midnight, 29 August 2015
SciFi Film Festival Awards – 1 November 2015
Winners will be announced at the SciFi Film Festival held on the 1 November 2015

3. Terms and Conditions
Judging of submissions will be undertaken by panels appointed by the SciFi Film Festival ‘SFFF’ and their decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Submission of an online Application and paying the relevant Submission fees via PayPal, constitutes consent by the Applicant to the Clauses of these Terms & Conditions.

Once your completed application is received and PayPal payment processed, you are eligbile to submit your story. We will then send you instructions on how to upload your story for judging.

All entries from around the world are eligible as submission of a written piece to the SciFi Short Story competition. SFFF reserves in its sole discretion the right to not accept and/or disqualify, at any time, any submission that we do not believe is suitable for SFFF.

Submitting a short story (not a screenplay) by an applicant further constitutes consent by that applicant for SFFF to use that applicant’s name, and any material supplied as the submission, for publicity purposes, and use of the submission in any acts by SFFF which would otherwise be an infringement of the moral and ethical rights including copyright of the applicant. Applicants also consent to their submission being displayed on our website (www.scififilmfestival.com) in perpetuity or at the discretion of SFFF.

By submitting a short story, an applicant confirms that the short story is an original work, that is not defamatory, obscene and that it does not infringe any third party rights including, without limitation, privacy and he or she will provide evidence of such upon reasonable request.

All submissions are to be in Microsoft Word 1997-2003 Compatible format or a more recent version.

4. Awards
The SciFi Short Story competition First Prize of $500 will be awarded for Best Scifi Short Story at the SciFi Film Festival Awards ceremony and other awards may also be given at the discretion of SFFF and its Jury Panel.

Awards offered will be valid within 28 days of winners being notified of winning an award; if an award offer is not accepted within a further 28 days it may be withdrawn. Awards will be listed on the our website and are subject to change. We may add or withdraw awards at any time during the SFFF Short Story competition.
