SciFi on the Street

scifi film fesivalThe day’s activities are encapsulated in SciFi on the Street, a charity day in Church Street, Parramatta near Riverside Theatres, with a Cosplay parade and competitions alongside a replica DeLorean Time Machine from Back to the Future movies. In addition, there will be trade and information stands offering comics, books, artists, illustrators, a photo booth, memorabilia, collectables, access to specialist Sci Fi craftspeople, fan clubs, Sci Fi games, workshop on how to make a computer game by Morgan Lean, software companies and more. Over 20 restaurants and cafes will offer discounted menus and host board games. All donations from SciFi on the Street go to Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect).

Academy of Interactive Entertainment:
The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) is Australia’s most awarded 3D animation, game design and visual FX educator. Created as a non-profit organisation to grow the creative digital sector, AIE pioneered the development of specialist game qualifications and continues to innovate through industry partnerships and dynamic teaching.

‘Back to the Future’ DeLorean Time Machine Nathan Clark is unashamedly proud of two things; working at Haltech and being the owner/builder of this DeLorean time machine. Based on the car used in the 1985 movie “Back to the Future”, Nathan’s DeLorean is a painstakingly recreated replica of the actual car used in the movie.

Louie Joyce – creates illustrations for film, animation, editorials, publishing, advertising, exhibitions, comics and more. His short comic The Corner Store was included on the 2014 Ledger Awards shortlist and won the Ace Comics & Games 2013 Best Short Australian Comic prize.

Paul Caggegi – Graphic artist,  has been a motion-graphics artist, video editor & 3D effects creator for over ten years. Since going freelance in October of 2008, his only regret is that he never did it

Patty Jansen – Author:
Patty is the author of more than 20 books, including The Icefire Trilogy and the Return of the Aghyrians series. She will talk about her extensive experience in the world of self publishing and what a self published author values. She has also sold a novel to a small press and a number of stories to leading genre magazines, like Analog Science Fiction and Fact. She has a PhD in science and prior to becoming a writer, Patty worked in agricultural research.
