Behind the scenes of the SciFi Film Festival is an experienced team of real people who make all decisions and oversee the operations and administration of the festival.
Our year round committee and organising team, design, develop, deliver and review the SciFi Film Festival program of screenings, events and sideshows.
The team comes from a diverse range of professions and takes a proactive and creative approach to developing and enhancing film culture
They are also passionate about community engagement and reaching out to all creatives in screened based entertainment.
As a not-for-profit organisation our incorporated association operates under the NSW Fair Trading – Model constitution of the Associations Incorporation Act 2009.
Our year round committee and organising team:
Tom Papas: Festival Director – has a background in creative design, project management and stakeholder engagement in the arts and media. Tom’s event management, programming and marketing experience over a 16 year period has contributed to his successful history of creating unique film festivals, since 2008. These initiatives, coupled with Tom’s involvement in the Not-for-Profit festival sector, encourage talent and the development of filmmakers, actors, their careers and the broader film industry.
Simon Foster: Program Director – A 30-year veteran of the Australasian film sector, Simon worked in the sales and marketing teams at Village Roadshow, Columbia Tri-Star Films and 20th Century Fox during the VHS boom years before becoming Asia Pacific Sales Manager for ‘The Showbusiness Bible’, Variety. After 4 years as film reviewer at SBS Movies and contributor to publications such as Empire, IF Magazine and Screen Hub, he launched SCREEN-SPACE in 2012. His review segments can currently be heard nation-wide on the Macquarie Media network and statewide on ABC-FM Local.
Lionel Midford: Publicity and Media – Is a publicity and media professional with over 40 years experience in film and entertainment. He has personally orchestrated publicity and promotion campaigns for over 41 feature films, 35 stage productions, numerous special events and in excess of 579 international concert tours. He is a key member of Supanova Pop Culture Expo team and manages all media coverage.
Stephen Liddell: Artistic Director – has more than 32 years experience in Film, Television and Interactive Media as a Cinematographer, Commercial Director, Web Designer and Creative Director. Currently Stephen is the Creative Director for inktoscreen.com which is a film development business.
Theo Papas CPA & JP: Treasurer – has over 20 years experience in the corporate and not for profit sector. He is a Certified Practicing Account with a Bachelor of Business, Registered Tax Agent, Fellow of FINSIA and is a Justice of the Peace. He also mentors Junior and Intermediate Accountants and help them rise through the ranks.
Adam Goodrich – is an award-winning technologist with thirty years commercial experience in the IT industry, more than half of this in technology start-ups in Australia and Silicon Valley, USA. He is a commercially oriented visionary who thrives on challenge, is people focused, and loves leading teams to envision, create and operate technology solutions that deliver real value to the biggest brands and their customers.
