Indie Game Quest – Official Rules AUD$1,000 Cash Prizes

The Indie Game Quest (hereafter known as “IGQ” and “Contest”) is organised by SciFi Film Festival (hereafter known as ‘SciFi’, ‘We’, ‘Us” and ‘Our”) held in Sydney, Australia.

Each person/s or entity that submits a game to the Contest (hereafter known as “Entry” and “Entrant”) agrees to abide by, the IGQ Official Rules and all decisions made by the organisers and the jury. These decisions are final and may not be contested.

Please Note: You retain copyright and IP to your respective Entry/Submission and game.

We are accepting submissions for published and unpublished games.

1. How To Enter
IGQ is now accepting submissions for games developed on Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, consoles, mobile and portable platforms (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, etc.) and web-based games.

The Contest is open to all independent game developers and students across the globe.

All games submitted must be in English.

Each applicant may only submit one (1) entry. If you would like to submit another entry you must apply again.

2. Fees
We only accept payment of fees through PayPal.
There is a non-refundable submission administration fee of:
Regular Submission Fees – AUD$20.00
Student Submission Fees (20 years old and under) – AUD$10.00

Students must supply the following:
Student ID
Name of school
Lecturer’s/Teacher’s name
Email address of lecturer or teacher

3. How to Enter
Complete and submit your online registration form
Pay relevant Submission fee via PayPal
You will receive confirmation of your successful application

4. How to submit
You will also receive instructions where to submit your Entry online via Dropbox
Upload your game to the dropbox folder
Applicant must supply a gameplay video/trailer with commentary
Detailed synopsis of the game
Production credits of cast and crew
Supply 5 images of the game in 300dpi for promotional purposes
One (1) poster of your game for promotional purposes

5. Your submission
All games will be accepted and assessed with the view to showcase your Entry at an IGQ event during the SciFi Film Festival. However, some submissions may not be chosen due to their suitability and/or volume of entries.

A jury panel appointed by the SciFi will undertake selection and judging of your Entry, their decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Prizes and Awards will be presented during the SciFi Film Festival, Indie Game Quest events.

7. Rights of your Entry
By submitting an Entry, you grant Us the right to present and/or display your game to an audience or gathering of people for the purpose/s to interact and/or play with your Entry and game, at Our event/s.

Furthermore you consent to the use of your name, logo, image/s, photo/s, trailer and all other material submitted with the with the Entry in all media communication, including via our website and publicity materials, or to advertise and promote IGQ and SciFi, events, its products and services, or all, and to promote you and your Entry.

8. Warranty
By entering the Contest, each individual submitting Entry materials (including an entered game) represents and warrants to SciFi and IGQ that:

8.1 Such individual either is the Entrant (if the Entrant is an individual) or is a fully authorized representative of the Entrant (if the Entrant is a business entity)

8.2 The Entrant and the entered game fully comply with all eligibility requirements and all other provisions of these Official Rules

8.3 In preparing the entered game and Entry and participating in the Contest and the SciFi and/or IGQ event, the Entrant has complied and will comply in all respects with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules and has not violated nor will violate any agreement or understanding by which it is bound, including any confidentiality, employment, consulting, intellectual property assignment, or license agreement

8.4 The Entry consists entirely of Entrant’s own original work or of work to which Entrant has all necessary rights; and

8.5 Neither the Entry nor the duplication, use, display, performance, or distribution of the Entry will infringe or misappropriate any intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any person or entity.

8.6 We reserve the right not to publish or to cease to publish your Entry for any or no reason including, without limitation, if we deem that your Entry is in breach of any law or regulation or otherwise may create a liability for IGQ.

8.4 By submitting an Entry, you agree to allow us to contact you for future information, news or activities. Your information will not be passed on to any third parties without the written permission of either you or your parent or legal guardian if you are under 18 years.

9. RELEASE:
By entering the Contest, each each person/s or entity (cllectively known as Entry) releases and holds harmless SciFi, IGQ, organisaer/s, sponsor/s, its parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, and employees from any and all responsibility or liability arising out of or relating to: (i) any personal injury, death, property (including computer) damage, or other loss or claim of any kind arising from or in connection with any violation of these Official Rules; the Contest, the SciFi and/or IGQ event or any Entered Game; the acceptance, possession, or use of any prize; or any travel required by the Contest; (ii) any entry or other materials that have been tampered with, that are misdirected, incomplete, incorrect, non-conforming, corrupt, lost, late, or ineligible, or, with respect to mail-in entries or materials, that are sent postage due; and (iii) computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, hardware, software, or other technical malfunctions or failures; garbled or jumbled transmissions; Internet or website inaccessibility or delays; printing or typographical errors in any Contest or SciFi and/or IGQ event materials; or any other technical or human errors occurring in connection with the Contest or SciFi and/or IGQ event.

By entering the Contest, each person/s or entity (cllectively known as Entry) consents to the use of the Entry’s name, photograph and likeness (if an individual), logo (if any), state of residence, and Entered Game for advertising, promotion, marketing, and administration of the Contest and SciFi and/or IGQ event without additional compensation, to the extent permitted by law. Each entrant further agrees that SciFi may use any and all information collected through the Contest, including the Entry name and contact information, for marketing or other purposes whether or not related to the Contest, to the extent permitted by law and SciFi’s privacy policy, which may be found on the Contest Website.

10. REPRESENTATIONS:
By entering the Contest, each individual submitting Entry materials (including an entered game) represents and warrants to SciFi that:

10.3 In preparing the entered game and Entry and participating in the Contest and the SciFi and/or IGQ event, the Entrant has complied and will comply in all respects with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules and has not violated nor will violate any agreement or understanding by which it is bound, including any confidentiality, employment, consulting, intellectual property assignment, or license agreement

10.4 The Entry consists entirely of Entrant’s own original work or of work to which Entrant has all necessary rights

10.5 Neither the Entry nor the duplication, use, display, performance, or distribution of the Entry will infringe or misappropriate any intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any person or entity.

11. TERMINATION:
SciFi reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest in its sole and absolute discretion if the Contest becomes technically corrupted or is not capable of being run as planned, including infections by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of SciFi that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest. In such event, SciFi will post notice at the IGQ event and on the Contest Website and will implement an alternate means for awarding all prizes.

12. MISCELLANEOUS :
This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the internal laws of the state of New South Wales, without any reference to its conflicts of laws provisions.
